Time Management

Time management is the ability to plan and control how someone spends the hours in a day to effectively accomplish their goals. This involves juggling between work, hobbies and social life. To avoid been caught up in the frenzy of time, it is essential to establish clear goals and priorities in order to properly manage how your time is being spent.

Time management is one of the most important skills to have, but often times it is a concept that people and businesses struggle with. Although the benefits of time management practices are immeasurable, small businesses in particular cannot afford to be inefficient due to bad time management. Businesses that utilize good management of their time are better positioned to consistently deliver their product and service on time. This also means that the business is able to solve problems that arise without significant impact on their day to day operations/activities.  It is essential for businesses to rely on constant output by having a structured and planned schedule that provides time to tackle unforeseen circumstances that may arise.

Procrastination is a major reason why people and businesses often struggle with time. Procrastination is basically putting off tasks/activities or simply not just making time for them. Inevitably, this will reduce the level of productivity that can be achieved over a specific period of time. 

To properly manage time, you have to prioritize your already set tasks, basically deciding which task is of utmost importance and should be completed first. In order to successfully prioritize you have to develop short term and long-term plans on time management. It could be in the form of setting small and achievable tasks daily/weekly, and also exercising conscious control of time spent on specific tasks, in order to boost effectiveness, efficiency and productivity.

Given the number of tasks to accomplish daily, there isn’t a clear-cut method to manage time, however if you set clear goals and develop an effective to do list, prioritizing tasks will be easier.  Managing time effectively entails; analyzing your goals, breaking those goals into tasks and then prioritizing those tasks.

In conclusion, time management is an important skill that individuals and businesses should possess as this helps to keep tasks/activities to be completed in check and on track thereby boosting the level of productivity and efficiency across all areas of daily living.
